• The program runs for 8 weeks.
• Expect to dedicate at least 10-20 hours per week.
• Daily standups and weekly check-ins keep things accountable and engaging.
• Individuals with significant research outcomes will get a chance to fly out to Seattle and present their research to the Kniru team, with the potential for publication.
• The more you put in, the more you'll get out of it.

Who Should Apply?

We welcome anyone passionate about exploring deep research in AI and Finance. We expect you to have an intermediate to advanced understanding of one or more domains of AI or Finance or Software. You should have some experience in coding and hacking on projects or conducting research. If you are unsure, you can apply and we'll evaluate your application.

This residency is open to students, professionals, and independent researchers alike.

📍 Location

The residency is completely remote and open to participants in the US to avoid timezone issues. We will have standups and weekly check-ins to keep things accountable and engaging. We will have some optional in-person sessions in Seattle and Austin but the details for those will be finalized later based on the participants and Kniru team's availability.

What's Not Included?

This program is entirely self-directed. While we offer some structure—such as daily check-ins and weekly huddles—there's no formal mentorship or top-down guidance. The eight weeks are yours to shape, and the experience is what you make of it. Additionally, this is not a funded residency; there is no stipend, housing, or meals provided. Think of it as an unpaid sabbatical, giving you the freedom to focus on your own projects on your own terms.

Who's behind Kniru Residency?

The program is sponsored by Kniru with the mission of promoting Fundamental First Principles research on AI and Finance. Kniru consists of a team of AI and Quant researchers with experience building products used by millions of users. In the past, the team have worked at Hedge Funds and Asset Managers like Citadel, BlackRock and conducted AI research at Stanford and University of Washington.

   The residency is completely free. There is no fee to participate. We do not provide stipends, housing, or travel expenses.

2. Do I need to be technical?

   Yes, you need to be able to code and conduct research. If you are unsure, you can apply and we'll evaluate your application.

3. What if I have a full-time job?

   That's fine. The time commitment is 10-20 hours/week and you can balance it with your full-time job.

4. Can I participate remotely?

   Yes, although the program is currently open to participants in the US only to avoid timezone issues. We will open it to participants worldwide in the future.
